Why we share our faith...
So often in our outreach to those who have never encountered the rescuing power of Jesus we begin by asking questions like:
“What shall we do?” or “How shall we do it?”
Good questions! And they need to be asked and answered. But, as the contemporary influencer Simon Sinek has pointed out, we should start with
“Why?”
Why bother sharing our faith with anyone? Why risk being misunderstood, misrepresented or even rejected?
The truth is that there are lots of ways of answering the question. But there is one thing in particular which should drive the engine in our hearts towards lost people…
The resurrected Jesus told his disciples “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:21). Christ came “…to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10) and so we have the same sending (mission) from the Lord.
God is a fountain of sending love!
This truth and experience is what has caused me to proclaim the Gospel and teach others to do so over many years!
May that same love fill our hearts and be the ‘Why’, the motivating factor in all our witnessing and evangelism!
